KMC WHEELS announced that the local Hawaiian surfer that charged the hardest will be awarded with a set of xd series wheels following the winter contest season. It is the season where the world’s best surfers join the local Hawaiians on the North Shore, and the stakes remain high with careers on the line.
Local surfers in contention for the KMC xd series wheels are being judged based on the following criteria throughout the six week contest series as described by KMC Wheels ambassador and Pipeline local Jamie O’Brien (@whoisjob) in his recent Instagram post: overall competition, free surfing, wipeouts and XXL wave selection.

The KMC xd series were built for individuals that require precise equipment for imprecise environments. The wheels remain lightweight, strong, and race tested and approved.
Today, etnies and Bones dropped its collaboration collection paying tribute to the brands’ humble beginnings. Ryan Sheckler and The Sheckler Foundation celebrated the expansion of the first public skatepark in New Orleans’ history. COPING MECHANISM pushed for two years to get Parisite DIY Skatepark legalized but now it’s New Orleans’ first public skatepark – designed, built and run by skateboarders. Parisite DIY was ready for its next build, but needed help to finalize one last crucial part of the park: the coping.
As the Sheckler Foundation’s 7th “Be the Change” beneficiary, Ryan presented Parisite DIY Skatepark with support and a $10,000 financial grant to help implement quality steel coping and other metal work to create a public skatepark in New Orleans that will last decades.
adidas has unveiled the world’s first performance shoe made using Biosteel® fiber – a replication of natural silk – at the Biofabricate Conference in New York.
The adidas Futurecraft Biofabric prototype shoe features an upper made from 100% Biosteel® fiber, a nature-based and completely biodegradable high-performance fiber, developed by the German biotech company AMSilk. The material offers a unique combination of properties that are crucial in performance, such as being 15% lighter in weight than conventional synthetic fibers as well as having the potential to be the strongest fully natural material available.
In addition, Biosteel® fiber also provides a far more sustainable offering, with it being 100% biodegradable in a fully natural process. This continues adidas’ journey of sustainable innovation – from a starting point of virgin plastics, to recycled plastics, to its partnership with Parley for the Oceans and now a totally new frontier of investing in solutions that leverage science and nature as an integral part of innovation.
The shoe was unveiled at the renowned Biofabricate Conference in New York as adidas and AMSilk announce a partnership that will explore the use of Biosteel® fiber in performance products on a larger scale.
